JOB DESCRIPTIONS

CSR/Dispatcher: This position had myself and three other women answering the phones to schedule repairs for appliances. We would schedule customers depending on where they were located with the appropriate technician. We would also receive dispatches from companies such as Whirpool or Bosch, whose customers still had warranties, and follow up with the customers to ensure all information was accurate, and then schedule the service. Once we got all of the routes put together, we would optimize them in the computer and then print out the routes for our technicians. Along with this, there was the typical faxing, filing, and printing.

Desk Top Medicine clerk: This was one of the busiest jobs within the department of Primary Care. I worked with one other woman, and we were responsible for answering all the incoming calls to the facility, either transferred from the call center, or dialed directly from the patients. Documentation was a key to this position. I would either help schedule an appointment, transfer them to one of the nurses, refill a prescription, or send an electronic request to the physician. I was also responsible for the completion of all the forms; back to school physical forms, camp forms, Disability, HIPAA and FMLA forms, which all had to be completed in a timely fashion. This job also entailed faxing, copying and printing.

Medical Receptionist- Primary Care; Face of the department. Meet and greet patients while they were either checking in for their appointment or walking in with a question or to schedule an appointment. Once the patient was checked in they would receive the appropriate paperwork for their appointment, and then await the nurse to call them back to be seen. I was responsible for scheduling at times, as well as entering HIPAA information into their chart, and then sending that to be scanned into their chart. This was the process for all forms that were signed by the patient so that whichever facility they were at, it could be accessed. I was the only person at the front desk, working for 12 physicians and all their patients, including walk ins, who varied in ages from newborn to 100+ in years. I also would make copies as needed, file and fax.

Medical Receptionist-Ob/Gyn; Face of the department. Responsible for checking in patients for 6 providers. I was responsible to hand the patients the appropriate paperwork, depending on whether or not they were there for a well check or a pre natal appointment. I was also responsible for putting all of the pre natal packets together. I would call patients to remind them of their appointment the night before, as well as follow up with patients who had already had their babies from receiving a discharge summary from the hospital to schedule their 6-week post partum check. Responsible for verifying HIPAA information as well as the FMLA paperwork they need for maternity/paternity leave. Included copies, faxing and printing.

Patient Registration Associate; Face of the clinic, as this was usually the first stop for patients while checking in for their appointment. We were required to ask for a valid form of ID as well as their Kaiser card, and collect co payment if need be. Fax medical release forms to other clinics to receive records if needed. Was responsible for giving refunds to the patient if needed. I would direct patients where they needed to go since there were 8 different departments within the facility. Handle petty cash, laminate, copy, file, fax and answer the phones. At the end of the night, I was responsible for counting out my own drawer, ensuring it balanced, and then drop it into the safe.
